Simple yet significant lessons I learnt by growing plants !!

Updated: Oct 24, 2023

As Myron S. Kaufman correctly stated, watching something grow is good for morale. It helps us believe in life.

Being loving towards nature is what I have learnt from my childhood. My mother is the biggest inspiration behind it. I have seen her taking care of our plants like her own babies, loving them, talking to them and nourishing them. Growing up and following in her footsteps, even I developed a heartfelt love towards them. On occasions like birthdays or anniversaries, I gifted everyone a sapling, a gift that will always grow.

Two years back, when I started growing plants on my own, I felt the eternal bliss of being a plant parent.

We feel that we are nurturing our garden; in reality, it’s our garden that nurtures us.

I am immensely grateful for the love these adorable plants shower on us every day. I grow a tiny bit more with them and feel a little more connected with them every day. They induce a sense of responsibility and morals. Yes, morals! Because to grow healthy plants, you require patience and a bit of discipline. When I was trying to grow an avocado plant from the seed, indeed a long process, I earned insights on consistency and perseverance. Now, we have three healthy grown avocado plants in almost a year.

Aren’t they the kindest? Without expecting (much), they give (a lot). They help each other grow too.

One beautiful event worth mentioning; is about our cucumber plant that recently started growing. It needed some support to climb and stand tall. There was nothing besides the plant to hold on to except for a chilli plant. And yes, this fellow leaned on to the chilli plant. They both supported each other very well. That was so fascinating and an overwhelming thing to watch, i.e. the pure love between them. Eventually, it needed a sturdy collar for support, so we created a wireframe trellis.

Not all things bloom all year! Learning that will stay with me forever!

Something that almost everyone has read once in a lifetime.

Everyone has ups and downs, and what matters is that you don’t give up. For Example, our Fitonia plant dried up last summer, but we had faith in him, we continued watering and taking care of him. Today I can proudly say that he is one of the healthiest.

Hope is another magical thing, which grows inside you when you grow plants.

It is immense joy and satisfaction to nurture them and see them grow. And it is even more delightful to savour the vegetables grown in your garden (By experience, I can say that they taste more delicious and are much healthier ;D).

To state the key takeaways, plants do not need too much care. Simply proper and timely attention is enough. All you need to do is, take time, talk to them, listen to music with them and you will see them transform the environment and vibes around you dramatically.

Love is the secret ingredient, which no potting soil/compost bag will have.

These creatures have had a significant and enduring impact on my personality; they continue to. I will never be able to thank them enough for always making me a better person.

For me, HOME IS WHERE OUR PLANTS ARE !!
